A major employer in the east trying to expand its operation is also dealing with the government concerning alleged hazardous waste violations.

The Environmental Protection Agency is conducting a nationwide initiative evaluating the phosphate industry in the U.S. including PCS Phosphate's facility in Beaufort County.

THE EPA conducted a hazardous waste inspection at the Aurora plant and notified the company about some alleged violations.

PCS has met with state environmental agencies trying to come up with a resolution, but has not yet been reached one yet.

A PCS spokesman says these alleged violations have nothing to do with efforts to expand mining operations.
