Limbaugh Offers To Debate President Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A debate between President Barack Obama and Rush Limbaugh? If it ever happens, Dick Cheney will be in line for a ticket.

"I'd pay to see that," the former vice president said Sunday.

The radio talk-show host challenged Obama to a debate after administration officials criticized him for his comments on the new president's economic plans and for saying he hopes Obama fails.

In an interview Sunday on CNN's "State of the Nation," Cheney said he disagrees with former Bush administration speechwriter David Frum's assessment that Limbaugh is "kryptonite" because he drives voters away from the GOP.

"Rush is a good friend. I love him. I think he does great work and has for years," Cheney said. "I think Rush is a good man and serves a very important purpose."

On his nationally syndicated program earlier this month, Limbaugh said: "I am offering President Obama to come on this program - without staffers, without a TelePrompter, without note cards - to debate me on the issues. Let's talk about free markets versus government control. Let's talk about nationalizing health care and raising taxes on small business."

Wanda: Rush wants national attention?? Are you mad?? The man has a nationwide audience of about 20 million people! He's GOT national attention. What he wants to demonstrate is that Obama is everything the Republicans said he was: under-experienced, clueless, and unfit for the job. Limbaugh knows that Obama won't take him up on the challenge because Obama can't speak lucidly or thoughtfully on a topic without notes or a teleprompter dictating his every word. Considering the recent gaffes Obama has committed with regard to 'Special Olympics' and chuckling about the plight of the poor, I think there's a good chance that an unscripted moment on Obama's part might prove abysmal to his image. I thought G.W. Bush was a pretty sad example of leadership. Obama is starting to make Bush look like a genius.

Limbaugh is a joke. The biggest republican stereotype you could imagine, ie: a fat, loud, stupid, drug addicted hypocrite

"I said that he couldn't read, doesn't comprehend what he does read, and can't pronounce words correctedely (oops)." Johnnie you need to check out Obama on you tube before you slam Bush too much. Type Obama teleprompter problem and you can find it if you think he's such a gifted orator.

Obama would NEVER take the "Rushbo challenge!" Now, I used to be a "dittohead" (Rush listener) myself, but now have since renounced him...his hypocrisy and illicit drug use are certainly red marks against him. However, having said that, Limbaugh would by all means mop up the floor with Obama in a debate! Obama whetehr he realizes it or not (maybe not) is a socialist in disguise, and his massive gov't. pork-barrel spending to "fix" the economy isn't gonna do jack! Why not cut taxes on corporations and other businesses, and also for us "minions" that voted for him (or didn't), plus no "pork" projects (major promise broken already tsk-tsk)...but of course he won't do that. Even JFK (a Democrat) cut taxes sharply, and it worked! (This was a little before my time, I know, but I don't seem to recall reading about a recession in the early '60's.) Simply put, though, Rush, druggie or whatever, would kick O-Man's tail with "half his brain tied behind his back." And we all know it.
