License Plates Going Back To Blue

It seems police will once again get their blue plate special in North Carolina.

The state says it's giving up on the red-letter license plates, and will soon go back to the traditional blue.

The DMV says the return to blue plates came after requests from customers and police who found the blue plates easier to read from a distance.

The red letters began showing up two years ago and were brought in to assist with the recall of old and worn plates.

The DMV says the remaining 1.1 million red-letter plates are expected to be distributed between now and mid-October.

The state says the change back to blue will be done without incurring any additional cost.

The DMV tells WITN News that once blue plates are issued, those with the red plates can exchange them for blue ones when their vehicle registration is renewed at no cost.

I like the pirates... but when I see the colors purple and gold... I think of gay Leprechauns. And Tarheel Blue? ..isn't tar... ah black? ...Not to sure about yellow and black plates either... we would just look like yellow jackets! ..I do like the blue plates... glad to see them coming back..

Dave: Yes they crashed but not on the first flight. Even though they crashed and had failures they changed history. And because of that I have a job as a flight instructor.

Just sounds like more indecisive leadership to me. Why can't we get this stuff right the first time? THINK and PLAN ahead?

Dave: Why do you think you're so much better than everyone else? First in flight is still FIRST IN FLIGHT. Im pretty sure the Wright brothers expected to crash. Crashed plane or not, I would still be proud to have the plane on my plate.

How about Tarheel Blue? Purple is the ugliest color on the plantet so you ECU fans can keep it quiet about that.

Just wanted to give my little two cents on this topic. I personally do not care what color the letters are on my license plate or the license plate itself for that matter just as long as they are legit. What people are not getting about this is that majority of police/highway patrol are men and men have a tendency to be color blind. So, that's what it may be but they are not coming out with what the truth about the matter. From the medical standpoint: Color blindness is a condition in which certain colors cannot be distinguished. Red/Green color blindness is by far the most common form, about 99%, and causes problems in distinguishing reds and greens. Another color deficiency Blue/Yellow also exists, but is rare. Depending on just which figures you believe, color blindness seems to occur in about 8% - 12% of males of European origin and about one-half of 1% of females.
