SUV Sits Through Six Green Lights

Police say horns started honking as a sport-utility vehicle sat through six green lights at a south-central Pennsylvania intersection.

Officers arrived to investigate the SUV that seemed to be parked in the intersection, and found the driver asleep at the wheel, with his foot on the brake and a beer in the console.

Officers yelled to wake the man, then had to quickly halt the vehicle when his foot came off the brake and it drifted into the intersection Saturday night in Carroll Township, about 15 miles west of Harrisburg.

The 41-year-old was charged with driving under the influence.

Anyone that purchases alcohol is guilty. Here's hoping Proposition #418-B passes next year, outlawing all sale and consumption of alcohol in North Carolina.

I do think the man should get his license taken away for 15 years, and he should have to go to AA meetings for the rest of his life, but death by lethal injection? That is a little harsh. Thankfully no one was hurt, or it would be something to think about. Killing someone for this is not a wise choice Sr. Judgment like that is why this world is messed up in the first place. I am praying this man will learn his lesson with this one, and get on the right track. No need for him to be driving anytime soon. There should be a special law for drivers who fall asleep behind the wheel too. Let's hope NC will make the law, and get something to prevent this in the future. More breath tests, and road blocks, more taxes on Beer.

I hope to God that the authorities push for lethal injection on this. It's time to send a message that drinking and driving do not mix. Furthermore, his vehicle choice reflects both his feminization and poor taste, and that vehicle itself should be impounded and subsequently crushed.

I'm glad that nobody was hurt and I certainly do not condone drinking and driving. However, I must admit that this was funny and not at all what I was expecting when I clicked to read it. Thanks for the humor and again - glad it ended safely!

Mr. Blount, we know SUV's are not an evil encarnate, but the idiot driving it could have done a whole lot more damage with that than a hybrid electric. That may be why the media used SUV. Chill out man

The thing that jerks my chain is the part about "SUV". . .Why shouldn't the media just use the word "vehicle". What do you think, this guy wouldn't have passed out in a hybrid electric. The SUV is not evil incarnate, but you would think so! You never read the heading: "Mrs. Johnson was ran over on the way to church by a ford fiesta". But if it involves any SUV, it's plastered all over the place...enough ranting, Good nite.
