Battle Against Eyeball Tatooing

Oklahoma lawmakers are working to ban the eyeball tattooing.

Tatooing, a form of body art that’s been around for centuries, has only been legal in Oklahoma for a couple of years. But lawmakers are drawing the line at eyeball tattooing.

It’s exactly what it sounds like. The white part of the eye known as the sclera is tattooed in the procedure.

Doctors say there is a high risk for blindness. Though the practice is known on the East and West coasts, it hasn’t moved to the Midwest yet. That’s why Oklahoma lawmakers are working to get a bill passed before it does.

I so found a smaller version of the Leg Lamp at f.y.e! I sure did! LOL! You didn't offend me though.. I'm not happy with a couple of them either, so its fine if somebody else isn't! Later, C!

Dear Cat : I truly hope my opinion did not offend you, or anyone else, and I sincerely apologize if it did. Far be it from me to try to tell anyone what to do with their own bodies; I was only voicing my thoughts on the subject. Hope your "removal" is as quick and painless as possible ! Anyhow, on a slightly different topic: Did you catch my info [ last Christmas ] about the "Christmas Story House" website, and most importantly...DID YOU EVER BUY THE LEG LAMP ? ! Regards As Always, C

To Alpha>> I don't like the location of the tat. So I just kind of want it gone, or at least I say that now! May be singing a different tune after Friday! I have already been thinking of something to cover it with though, just in case having it removed turns out to be a little much..

Cat.. why are you having it removed rather than having it covered up?

Sam - Tad said nothing about our tax dollars being wasted on this. Tad said that he did not want tax payers dollars FIXING what a tattoo artist messed up. I think they should probably ban this practise for the sheer fact that we WILL end up taking care of someone after they go blind.

Thanks Tad! It will be fun Im sure!

I will back Tad on this one. I don't want to see a waste of tax dollars go to something this stupid.

Hey Cat, good luck with your tattoo removal, maybe it won't hurt too much. The only problem I have with someone getting an eyeball tattoo is that I as a taxpayer do not want to have them to support if they go blind. Other than that, if they want to be stupid, I say let go for it.

Kathy... I couldn't agree with you more! Sometimes you just gotta give people what they think they want.

Well,C..I always agree with yer posts, so it saddens me to say that I have a few tats..AND I'm a woman! To argue another valid point though, I will say this. I am going Friday to start having 1 of them removed & OH the pain that will be! I actually have a tat on my shoulder that I love because its an original design & its mine only. That 1 will stay. 2 others will go (If I live through getting the 1st 1 removed). Thats something else to consider though.. Wonder how hard it would be to get a tat removed from your eye?? I get that lazer surgery is done on eyes all the time, but thats a little different! Wish me luck on Friday btw! I'm going to cry like a little baby!!! But, I think it will be worth it :)
