A woman has been charged with stabbing a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer with a crack pipe while he was trying to take her into custody.
The Charlotte Observer reports that 52-year-old Frances Platt faces several charges including assault on an officer and driving while impaired in the Christmas Day incident. Police officials say an officer tried to pull Platt over because she was driving slowly.
But she did not stop, instead turning onto another street and stopping at the end of the road. Officials say Platt then lit a crack pipe as officers closed in.
She allegedly stabbed an officer in the hand with a broken piece of the pipe as he tried to take her into custody. Officials say the officer, who was not identified, did not suffer serious injuries.
