Man Convicted Of Killing Pregnant Teen Blames All White Jury For Guilty Verdict

A man convicted in the death of his pregnant 14-year-old girlfriend says he'll base the selection of an all-white jury for appeal.

Elgin Ray Robinson Jr. says he hopes to use the fact that there were no minorities on his jury as one aspect of his appeal. Chelsea Brooks was pregnant with Robinson's child when she was killed.

Her body was found June 15, 2006, in a shallow grave in Butler County, about a week after she disappeared from a Wichita, Kansas skating rink. Prosecutors said Robinson orchestrated Chelsea's death, and a jury convicted him Oct. 22 of capital murder and rape, among other charges.

The Wichita Eagle reported that Robinson said in a jailhouse interview that he knew as soon as he saw his all-white jury that he had no chance of acquittal.

Robinson's sentencing hearing is next week.

I would like to get something off my chest that has been a heavy burden for some time. The race issue in America is so out of wack that it is stupid. The majority of American elected a black President this including a majority of white voters. When ask, "why are you voting for Obama?", the true race issue came to light for me. Blacks seem to let race be a more deciding factor that whites. Well, this tells me there is more racism coming from blacks than they're from whites. Am I missing something or has the whole race issue gone in reverse?

Only thing I'll say is that if I were her father, I'd want him out on the street. I post his bail just so he and I could have a LITTLE chat over a cup of coffee before.......

if you are black and the jury is white there is no way a black person gonna get a fair trial and the same applies the other way around

He blames an all white jury for the conviction, not himself for committing the crime!

People are sending out mixed messages. Black people want equality? Wants up with the all black TV networks, radio stations, beauty pagents, colleges, organizations; such as NAACP, minority scholarship programs and the list goes on and on? So the meaning of equality is someone getting a chance to go to college simply because of the color of their skin? We now have a black President and people of color are still not happy. I see even more racial tension than before. I don't understand, but then again I guess some want to keep racism alive and well. What else would they have to complain about?

Of course he would think to use the race card to get out of a crime (Or 2, or 3.) because it has worked for so many other people. It's stupid, and should have no bearing on anything. He's charged with some major stuff, and needs to be sentenced accordingly.. Regardless of race, or the race of the jurors.
