Beaufort County Missing People Case Profiled On National TV

It's been close to five years since three people from the east told their families they were heading to Mexico and have never been heard from again. Now their case will be featured on a national television program to help generate some leads.

Virginia "Ginni" Woods of Chocowinity, her friend Kelly Gaskins and Kelly's boyfriend, Ervin Williams of Chocowinity disappeared back in March of 2007. The Beaufort County sheriff's office says Ginni left her dorm at Appalachian State University to meet Kelly in Texas.

Ginni called her mother to say she was going to Cancun, Mexico for spring break. She drove her Nissan Sentra, but that car has never been found. Family members believe the three could be still alive and the sheriff's office has been working small leads, but have hit road blocks along the way.

"We don't have the authority or the funding to travel to Texas or much less to another country to follow up on leads in a case like this, so it's very frustrating, because even though these three are adults... your heart goes out to the families left behind wondering what happened to their loved ones," said Beaufort Co. Sheriff's Office Major Kenneth Watson.

Ervin Williams has a criminal past and is wanted for an arson case. His girlfriend Kelly Gaskins is facing a parole violation. While Ginni Woods had no criminal history and expected to return to school. Ginni's family hired private investigators to help search for her in Mexico, but with no luck.

The Investigation Discovery Channel featured their story at 9:00 pm Monday to shed more light on this cold case.
