TEACHER OF THE WEEK: Stephanie Noles From JH Rose In Greenville

Stephanie Noles is the Teacher Of The Week for December 19.

Noles is a graduate of ECU with a BA in History. She has been teaching Social Studies at J.H. Rose High School, primarily Paideia World History, U.S. History, and Civics & Economics, for the past seven years. She was honored to be selected JHR's Teacher of the Year for 2012-2013 by her fellow faculty members and recently achieved National Board Certification.

Stephanie is a single parent of a very active middle school boy, so she says life is super hectic! Stephanie worked for ECU for several years before going back to get her teaching certification, so she says she truly feels like she is following the career path she was "meant" to do.

Stephanie writes: “Sounds super cheesy, but I really do love teaching high school. I adore my students. They make every day worth it and no day is ever the same. My hope is that my students know how much I care about them and about their future. I don't know if you know this- but we have some pretty amazing kids here in Pitt County! Their potential blows me away on a daily basis, and I can't wait to see the them grow into adults & achieve those things I know they are capable of doing. I want my students realize that they can do anything they set their minds to and if along the way, I can help them grow into good citizens with a grasp on the global community that surrounds them, I will be happy. I'd love for them to also walk away with an appreciation for history and how much our past does impact our future. The added benefit is working here at JH Rose--I don't think you can find a more supportive administration or faculty. It's pretty cool when you enjoy what you do and the environment that you get to do it in!”

Stephanie was nominated a fellow teacher who wrote: Stephanie “is an awesome teacher here at J.H. Rose High School. Ms. Noles teaches World History and also heads the Link Crew. Link Crew is a group of upper class men nominated to be mentors to freshmen. She has continued to captivate the attention of students here for the past several years.“
