The Teacher Of The Week for January 23 is Mandy Hedgepeth.
Mandy graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor Degree in Birth through Kindergarten Teacher Education and later became certified K-6.
This is her eleventh year teaching in Beaufort County. Seven years have been in kindergarten, and the past three years have been at her current school, Bath Elementary.
Mandy writes: “I love teaching Kindergarten because young children are so eager to learn. They get so excited about each little thing we do at school. It is a pleasure to watch them grow and develop throughout the year, and share in all of their successes. It is very rewarding to see how much progress each child makes and know that I helped lay the foundation for their future education. My goal is to have a fun and exciting, as well as nurturing classroom, to help instill a lifelong love of learning in all of the children I teach! “
The person who nominated Mandy wrote: “Most kids just starting school are nervous and scared a little, but she makes them feel so special and loved. My daughter talks about how much she loves her teacher every day and can't wait for school. I think that is a very important trait to have when your students love to go school and learn because they adore their teacher. She makes such a difference in their lives.”
