NEW INFO: Two Children Drown In Neuse River

Two cousins have drowned in the Neuse River in Raleigh.

It took divers four hours to find the bodies of the 7-year-old Johnny Nay and 10-year-old Katherine Rcom on Monday evening.

Officials say a man took his son and three nieces to the river Monday afternoon. The boy went into the water and was pulled under by the current about 20 yards from a dam. The boy's 10-year-old cousin went in after him and was also pulled under.

The boy's father and his 13-year-old niece tried to save the youngsters but were unable to find them.

Police Maj. J.C. Perry says Apex Search and Rescue helped Raleigh officers and Wake County EMS with the search. Perry says the bodies were found 20 yards downstream.
