TROOPERS: Truck Hits Boy Pedaling Across Highway 70

A young boy on a bike did not safely make it across Highway 70 in Craven County as troopers said a pickup truck crashed into him.

The Highway Patrol said a bike and truck collided around 2:15 Thursday afternoon along Highway 70 East, near West Fisher Avenue in Craven County.

The Highway Patrol told the New Bern Sun Journal a boy was attempting to cross the highway on his bicycle when the blue Chevrolet truck hit him, and the truck then veered into the ditch.

The boy was taken to the hospital, according to the paper, but is expected to be okay.

The Highway Patrol tells us someone was arrested in the case. We are awaiting further details about that arrest.
