NEW INFO: Road Reopens; Marine Charged With DWI

A busy road in Onslow County is open once again, after being closed for several hours this morning.

Gum Branch Road was closed for about four hours because of the 5:00 a.m. accident near Timothy Road. That crash caused downed power lines which delayed reopening the road.

State troopers have charged Corporal Sean Brandt with DWI after the single vehicle accident. Trooper T.W. McCoy says Brandt's blood alcohol content was .09. In North Carolina, .08 is the legal limit.

Trooper McCoy says the car was coming from Jacksonville and ran off the road to the right, into power lines. The Marine from Camp Lejeune was taken to the Naval Hospital with with non-life-threatening injuries.
