Sanderson Farms Protesters File Appeal

A group fighting to keep Sanderson Farms from building a poultry processing plant in its community is taking its case to the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Sanderson Farms has received stiff opposition to build the proposed chicken plant in southern Nash County. Lawyers representing the city of Wilson filed an appeal to the ruling that the city be removed as plaintiffs in lawsuits against Nash County, according to the Rocky Mount Telegram.

Wilson officials say the chicken plant could pollute local water supplies and prevent high-tech industries from coming to the area.
