STUDY: Anti-Itch Creams Ineffective On Bug Bites

As we head into summer and prepare for the bugs that come with the season, you may want to put that anti-itch cream back on the shelf.

A new review of evidence finds few over-the-counter bug bite remedies actually work. Researchers in Britain could not find evidence that anti-histamines or steroid creams provided relief.

Creams containing painkillers or anesthesia, like lidocaine, were found to be marginally effective. Experts say most bug bites don't require treatment.
