UPDATE: Rocky Mount Family Loses Home To Fire

A Rocky Mount family received a call while on vacation that their entire home went up in flames.

A Battalion Chief with the Rocky Mount Fire Department confirms the couple was out of town when the fire started around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The two-story home was located on Hunter Hill Rd. It took more than 40 firefighters several hours to battle the blaze. Fire fighters didn't clear the scene until 8:00 a.m. Monday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
