Researchers Believe Brain Scans May Detect Autism

Brain scans may be able to spot the signs of autism as early as age two.

Researchers at Children's Hospital Boston compared the EEG scans of 430 children with classic symptoms of autism to more than 500 normally-developing children. They found distinct differences in the brains of the autistic children, particularly to the area of the brain that handles language.

They hope to use the results to develop a diagnostic test for autism.
