Power Outage Set For Some Hyde County Customers

About 2,100 Hyde County customers of Tideland EMC will be without power for a few hours as crews work on a new substation.

The utility says power will be turned off at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday and restored no later than 3 a.m. Thursday for homes and businesses in Swan Quarter, Engelhard and Fairfield. Homes west of the Swan Quarter bypass and east of Engelhard, including Dare County, won't be affected.

Crews will be working on the new Ponzer Substation during the outage.
