Power Back On In Hyde County

A planned power outage overnight in Hyde County lasted three hours longer than expected.

Tideland EMC said a power outage would last from 11:59 p.m. Wednesday until 3 a.m. Thursday. However, the power was not restored until 6 a.m., according to customers of the power company.

The electric company said in a press release that 2,100 people were affected by the planned outage. Crews shut down the Mattamuskeet substation to work on the electric cooperative's new Ponzer substation.
