SBI Detonates Device Overnight In Ahoskie

Police detonated what's being called an incendiary device after several people had to be evacuated from their homes overnight in Hertford County.

The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald reports the incendiary device was discovered in an outbuilding in the backyard of an Ahoskie duplex apartment on West Street. The owner of the duplex found the device, the paper says.

The tenant was recently evicted. Homes around the duplex were evacuated and the SBI detonated the device safely around 11:45 Thursday night, according to the News-Herald.
