Plane Crash Reported In Beaufort

An experimental aircraft crashed Monday at the Michael J. Smith Airport in the Carteret County town of Beaufort, according to the Carteret County News-Times.

The newspaper reported that the engine on the plane stalled during takeoff around 11 a.m. Monday, and the plane crashed at the airport with one person was on board.

The Carteret County News-Times says the pilot suffered a broken nose and a cut to his knee, but that was the extent of his injuries. His name was not released.
