On Alert! ECU Tests Emergency Notification System Friday

Don't be alarmed if you hear the emergency system at east Carolina university going off today.

The university is testing their various means of communication starting Friday, August 17th at 10am and again Saturday.

This drill is required by the state, but it also helps staff get out all the kinks.

Those on campus will hear a verbal message on the loud speakers, noting that it is only a test.

Last November, ECU got a impromptu drill after a student toting an umbrella across his back, was mistaken for an intruder with a gun.
