NEW INFO: Escaped Inmate Back In Custody

The man who escaped from a state prison Wednesday night is now back in custody.

Officials captured 35-year-old Joey Carrico this morning at 5:20.

Carrico is serving two years for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. He was due for release February 2013. He escaped from the Wilkes Correctional Center near Winston-Salem around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Correction officials say they are searching for a man who managed to break out of a state prison overnight.

Thirty-five-year-old Joey Carrico escaped around 9 Wednesday night from the Wilkes Correctional Center which is west of Winston-Salem. He is serving two years for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and was due for release in February 2013.

He may be attempting to reach family and friends in Wilkes County.
