Name Of Suspected Afghan Shooter To Be Released

Nearly one week after the massacre in Afghanistan that claimed the lives of 16 civilians, we are expecting to learn the name of the soldier accused in those killings today.

We have learned the Army Staff Sergeant was highly decorated, even nominated for the Bronze Star at one point, though he did not receive it.

Seattle attorney John Henry Browne, who's representing the soldier, says his client saw his friend's leg blown off the day before the rampage. Browne tells The Associated Press that according to his client's family, he was standing next to another U.S. soldier when that soldier was gravely injured.

Browne says all of the soldiers at the remote camp where his client was assigned were upset by the injury. It's not clear whether that might have prompted the killings of the civilians, who included women and children.
