NC Firefighter Pleads Guilty In Arson Case

A volunteer firefighter in North Carolina has pleaded guilty after prosecutors say he burned down a building so he could make extra money.

Daniel Wayne Scott of Chadbourn pleaded guilty Wednesday to aiding and abetting arson. Prosecutors say the 20-year-old entered Carolina Tire Sales through a broken window, used some liquid fire-starter and lit the blaze. Chadbourn is about 50 miles west of Wilmington.

Richard Blake Turner pleaded guilty for his role in the case last year. Michael Cody Clamp pleaded guilty with Scott.

Prosecutors say Scott and Clamp face a maximum of 40 years in prison. Attorneys for the men didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
