More FEMA Centers Closing, SBA Centers To Open

Several FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers set up to help people hit hard by the floods a month ago are shutting down, while some Small Business Administration Centers will soon open.

The FEMA Center in Pitt County is closing down Friday. The hours at the
the Gardnerville Volunteer Fire Department on County Home Road in are
8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Eight FEMA Centers will close down Saturday, including those in Beaufort, Bertie, Craven, Hertford, Jones, Pender, and Tyrrell counties are closing down Saturday evening. In Bertie, Craven and Pender counties, the same locations will re-open Monday as U.S. Small Business Administration offices to help people with loans and recovery programs.

More Disaster Recovery Centers are planned for Camden, New Hanover, Martin and Washington counties.

To be eligible for state, FEMA or SBA assistance, homeowners and renters can register with FEMA online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 800-462-7585. Applicants can use the same telephone numbers to check on their FEMA registration by pressing the Helpline option.

The SBA Disaster Customer Service Center toll-free number is 800-659-2955 or (TTY) 800-877-8339. Help is also available by sending an e-mail to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov or by going online at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.
