Meetings Scheduled To Discuss Pitt County's Unitary Status

Reaching racial balance in one county's school district will be up for discussion Monday.

Old desegregation orders from the 1970's requires Pitt County Schools to establish unitary status.

A lawsuit six years ago claiming unconstitutional student assignment lines brought up the issue on unitary status, again.

It's complicated so a meeting to explain it all is scheduled, Monday March 26, 2012 at 6pm at the Pitt County Community Schools And Recreation Center.

Public input meetings start Thursday at 6pm. Here are the dates and locations of the meetings.

•March 29, 2012 – South Central High School Media Center
•April 5, 2012 – J. H. Rose High School Lecture Hall
•April 19, 2012 – North Pitt High School Media Center
