Maiden Church Receives Suspicious Package After Anti-Gay Sermon

A package containing a white powdery substance was received by mail Thursday at the Maiden Church where a clergyman delivered an anti-gay sermon last month.

A deputy with the Catawba County Sheriff's office described the package as "suspicious." A Hazmat team is investigating the incident at Providence Road Baptist Church, authorities said.

The church's pastor, Charles Worley, gained nationwide attention after a sermon in which he advocated locking gays behind an electric barbed-wire fence.
