The father of an NFL player, who was a Nash County deputy, is no longer on the force after being arrested for drugs.
Deputy George Kurney was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine. Officials say a joint investigation between the Nash County Sheriff's Office, SBI, Tarboro Police and Wilson Police led to the arrest.
The 50-year-old Bailey man is father of Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers.
Kurney was relieved of his duties following the arrest. Kurney worked for the Nash County Sheriff's Office for nearly a decade.
Peppers played for the Bears last year after eight seasons with the Carolina Panthers.
Donald Bullock, 46, of Sims, was also arrested in the investigation.
