La Grange Votes To Begin Town Meetings With Prayer

City officials in La Grange have decided to go against what federal judges have ruled unconstitutional.

The town council plans to start its meetings with prayer.

The vote took place this week to start their meetings with a blessing, according to the Kinston Free Press. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 7. For the past year and a half the town began meetings with time for personal thoughts.

Federal judges have ruled in the past that opening a public meeting with prayer violates the First Amendment.
