NEW INFO: Jones County Crews Battle Overnight Blaze

Officials are investigating what started a hunting lodge on fire in Trenton overnight. Officials at Jones County EMS say the lodge, which used to be a home, at 649 McDaniel Rd. caught fire around 1:40 a.m. Monday.

Thunderstorms with lightning were rolling through the Trenton area at that time. Officials say they are checking with the National Weather Service to see if there were any lightning strikes in the area of the fire at the time it started.

No one was injured in the fire.

The fire followed a busy weekend for Jones County fire crews. Officials say four abandoned mobile homes caught fire off Highway 17 in the Chadwick area Saturday morning. Those fires are considered possibly suspicious.

A Pink Hill woman lost her home after leaving the stove on after cooking. Her home was on Pleasant Hill Rd.
