A homeless man is in jail this Thanksgiving, after deputies say he tried to make some money off stolen metal.
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office arrested 52-year-old Bryan Venters Wednesday. He was arrested at EJE Recyling after people there determined the metal Venters was trying to sell could be stolen.
Detectives say the metal had been stolen over the last six months from Branch Jones of Ayden. They also believe Venters has already sold more than $30,000 worth of stolen metal.
Venters is in the Pitt County Detention Center charged with 12 counts of Felony Larceny; and 12 counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense.
Venter's bond was set at $100,000.
