Havelock Rams Could Coast Through Next Round Of Playoffs

One local high school football team might be able to coast through to the next round of the playoffs with a "bye."

The Havelock Rams defeated Southern Vance in the Class 3-A playoffs Friday, 21 to 14. However, South Brunswick, the team the Rams are matched up to play Friday, could be disqualified. Multiple media reports say three South Brunswick players were ejected from their game against Southern Wayne Friday. According to the NC High School Athletic Association policy, the ejection of three players for a fight means the team loses their playoff privileges.

The playoff bracket on the state website currently has the teams matched up with no discussion of disqualifying South Brunswick.
