Greenville Teen Charged With Staging Fake Robbery

A teenager in Pitt County is in jail accused of reporting an armed robbery that turned out to be fake.

Greenville police say Rosa Torres told them she had been robbed at gunpoint at the Family Dollar store where she worked early Wednesday morning. Police said Torres had actually staged the whole robbery and planned on using the money to bail her boyfriend out of jail.

Torres was arrested on Thursday and is being held on a $25,000 unsecured bond. Police plan to make more arrests in this case.
