Giant Oak Tree Downed In High Winds

What took nature centuries to grow was undone by Mother Nature in just minutes.

A giant oak tree believed to 300 years old fell during Friday's storm in Mount Olive, its entire root system now above ground. Pam Warren says the tree fell on her brother's property, but it luckily missed hitting his house. He had other storm damage, including to barns and sheds.

Wind gusts in that area were estimated as high as 80 miles per hour Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
