The dress code that many county school systems have adopted will not apply in Lenoir County Schools.
The Kinston Free Press said the school board voted to abandon the plan to have children wear khaki, blue or black dress pants, along with polo shirts of a solid color. Instead, the school board added clarification to the current dress code to allow teachers and administrators to enforce the rules more objectively, according to the paper.
The Free Press reports that shorts, skirts, and dresses must now be worn at or below the knees, hats are not allowed, sleeveless shirts are not allowed in middle school and high school, and high school students may not wear hoodies or hooded coats.
