Crews Work To Repair Bodie Lighthouse

Crews are continuing work to repair one of North Carolina's beloved lighthouses.

The Bodie Lighthouse in Nags Head is getting an overhaul. The News and Observer reports the work will cost nearly $5 million to fully fix the structure built in 1872. Crews are strengthening stair supports, replacing corroded metal, repairing masonry and stone, adding better lighting and wiring, among other improvements.

Work should be done by the end of the year.
