Much of Eastern Carolina is under an air quality alert for Wednesday. The air advisory is in effect until 3 p.m.
Counties under code red alert include Jones, Duplin, Onslow and Pender.
Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Dare, Greene, Lenoir, Nash, Pitt and Wayne counties are under a code orange alert.
Bruce MacDonald, public information officer with the North Carolina Division of Forestry Resources, says containment is still only at 68 percent for the Pender County wildfire. Residents can still expect to see smoke because the interior pockets of the fire are still burning.
