First On WITN: Car Hits Tree, Driver Airlifted

Troopers said on Wednesday that 20-year-old Aileach Kelly of Emerald Isle was talking and responsive after her crash overnight in Carteret County.

Around 10:00 on Tuesday night, troopers said Kelly took a curve too fast, hit a road sign, and then crashed into a tree on Lake Road, a few miles west of Newport in Carteret County.

Though she was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center with injuries including a broken arm on Tuesday night, on Wednesday morning, a hospital spokeswoman said Kelly was not listed in their current patient database.
