Burn Ban Remains In Effect
State forestry officials want to remind residents in the East that a burn ban remains in effect for much of the area.
Areas south of Highway 64 and East of I-95 are under the burn ban. Dare, Tyrrell and Washington counties are included in this order.
The ban prohibits all burning within 100 feet of a home.
Officials encourage people to visit professional fireworks displays instead of attempting to light ones at home.
