Carteret County Beach Receives Okay To Swim

A swimming advisory at a Carteret County beach has been lifted.

Bacteria levels at the Radio Island Public Beach access point in Morehead City are back below acceptable levels, according to the state.

Officials say it is now safe to go back in the water there.

The has issued a swimming advisory for one Morehead City swimming spot after high bacteria levels were detected.

The advisory has been posted at the Radio Island Public Beach Access. Although bacteria levels are currently elevated, the beach is not closed. The bacteria only affects the water within 200 feet of the sign.
