Deputies say a fire that severely damaged a home early Monday morning most likely started because the homeowners' son had broken into the house.
Pamlico County deputies have charged Adrian Trull of Oriental with second degree burglary and three counts of felony B&E and larceny.
Investigators say the garage and a camper trailer, along with the home on Miller Road had been broken into while the 22-year-old man's parents were on vacation. They discovered that Trull had been selling tools and a TV at several New Bern pawn shops on Sunday. After confronting Trull, deputies say he admitted breaking into his parent's home several times while they were away.
Deputies believe the fire started in the living room and in all probability was caused by an electrical short when Trull partially unplugged the TV and other electronic items from a power strip.
Investigators say other stolen property was found in a garage on Jenerio Road.

The Pamlico County Fire Marshal is on the scene of the house that caught fire and says it's too early to tell what spared the destructive blaze.
Four local fire departments were dispatched just before 2 a.m. Monday to 92 Miller Rd., which is just off Highway 55 between Bayboro and Oriental.
Fire Marshal Chris Murray says crews had the fire under control by 3 a.m. Murray says the house is occupied, but no one was home when the blaze began.
When asked how bad the damage was, Murray said they will know if it's a total loss or not once they get inside the structure to assess the damage there. Right now, the cause of the fire and where it started are under investigation.
Dispatchers in Pamlico County say four fire departments were sent to 92 Miller Rd., just before 2 a.m. Miller Rd. is off Highway 55, north of Oriental in Pamlico County.
No one was in the house when it caught fire, dispatchers said, though EMS was on the scene.
Four fire departments responded: Southeast Pamlico Volunteer Fire Department, Arapahoe Volunteer Fire Department, Triangle (Bayboro) Fire Department and Florence/Hortonville Fire Department.
