Havelock High Grad Critically Injured

A recent high school graduate and standout on the football team at Havelock High School is in the hospital after a car accident. Daniel Bailey is listed in critical condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Published reports say Bailey was in a car that ran into a ditch early Saturday near Newport in Carteret County. The driver is charged with reckless driving, according to the Havelock News. The paper also says Bailey could be paralyzed as a result of the wreck.

According to the Havelock News, Bailey was a standout receiver on the Havelock High School football team. In his senior year season, the paper says he set a school record for receiving yards in a season with 867.
