One school system in the East has a new superintendent, following the death of the previous one at the end of the school year.
The Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Board of Education appointed Linwood Williams to the post Wednesday. Williams has been acting superintendent since January.
"The board has every confidence that Mr. Williams will bring a new and aggressive leadership style to our district that will promote growth and provide positive direction," said school board chairman Mark Small.
Williams replaces Tony Stewart, who died last month at the age of 67.
