Benefits Of ADHD Medication

A new study suggests children who take medication for ADHD may do better in school than unmedicated kids with the condition.

Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, followed a group of kids from kindergarten through fifth grade. Those who took ADHD medication scored almost three points better in math and over five points higher in reading than other kids who'd been diagnosed with ADHD, but who were not taking any prescription drugs.

Researchers say there is still a large academic gap in these children compared to those without ADHD.
