Lack Of Sleep Can Be Harmful To Your Health

Several studies on the affect of a lack of sleep were presented at the experimental biology meeting in New Orleans.

One study found three days of poor sleep caused the body to need more insulin, meaning participants needed to eat more. Another study found a lack of sleep over five years increased the risk for high blood pressure. Sleeplessness was also linked to obesity, in both adults and children.

Finally, another study showed prolonged periods of bad sleep increased the body's stress response, which can increase the risk for heart disease and depression.
