The sad end to the search for a missing Northern California girl quickly brought mourners to the mobile home park where she lived last night.
Some people held candles and others wiped away tears after
hearing the news that Sandra Cantu's body had been found a few
miles from where she was last seen.
The body of the 8-year-old was found Monday in a suitcase pulled
from an irrigation pond. She was in the same clothes she was
wearing March 27, a pink "Hello Kitty" T-shirt and black leggings.
The police chief in Tracy, about 60 miles east of San Francisco, is sending her "heartfelt sympathies" to the girl's family and friends.
Chief Janet Thiessen is also vowing that the person or persons
responsible for the girl's death will be brought to justice.
