Gas Prices Going Up

Gas prices are going up again. The average cost nationwide is more than $2 per gallon for the first time since November.

AAA says gas prices rose 2.3 cents a gallon in one day to a new national average of $2.009 per gallon. Pump prices are nearly 11 cents higher than a month ago, but $1.25 lower than the same period last year.

Gas prices last hit $2 on Nov. 20.

Prices in Greenville have jumped to $2.09 at some stations. A man from Columbia in Tyrrell County said a gas station there jumped from $1.94 to 2.19 on Thursday.

Analysts say investors seem to have shrugged off the government
data and have been bidding up prices on the expectation of a future
shortage of crude oil.
