Dorel Juvenile group out of Columbus, Indiana says the Safety 1st SmartLight Stair Gates are unsafe and they are recalling 100-thousand of them.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall Wednesday. The recall involves the Safety 1st Gate with the model number 42111, which can be found on a sticker located under the handle panel.
The gates, which were manufactured before December 31, 2007, has a hinge problem that could be a hazard to children if the gate is placed at the top of stairs.
The CPSC says consumers should stop using the recalled gate and contact the company for a free repair kit.
