The Internal Revenue Services has announced steps to help cash-strapped taxpayers speed their payments and maximize refunds.
The IRS says filing online is the fastest way to get your refund back. Couple that with choosing direct deposit, and the agency says you can get your refund in as few as ten days. If you file a traditional paper return and ask for a paper check refund, you can expect your refund in about six weeks.
Taxpayers can begin filing electronically on Friday, January 16.
There are also new tax breaks this year, including a first-time homebuyer credit.
